Provision of legal opinion on corporation and privatisation issues particularly as they concern the Energy sector in Nigeria

Represent clients in the manufacturing, trading, technology, construction and service sectors wishing to establish businesses in Nigeria either in partnership with Nigerians or through companies wholly owned by non- Nigerians.

Assist clients in other areas requiring compliance with requisite Nigerian investment laws and business regulations. These include obtaining of all the requisite business permits and /or expatriate quota allocations, Securities and Exchange Commission consents and approvals and certificate of capital importation.

Nigeria has witnessed exponential growth in this sector, a trend that has seen Nigerian banks grow from less than 25 to over 85 in just over a decade, before the recent recapitalisation exercise.

On our part, we have kept abreast with this growth, and continue to work for a number of banking and financial institutions, acting to procure requisite licenses, drawing up contracts, effecting registration of loan documentation, providing legal support and services on complex projects and finance schemes; conducting due diligence on behalf of client banks and other financial institutions, and generally provide legal services on an on-going basis.

The firm has wide ranging expertise in the area of maritime law backed up with years of consistent practical application from dealing with maritime related issues as well as practice in superior courts of Nigeria where litigation is resorted to.

We regularly advise on aviation related conventions, legislations, policies, regulations and disputes, while also conducting aviation related litigation. We are familiar with the procedure for setting up airlines in Nigeria including the process of obtaining all the requisite licences, permits and authorisations required to participate in the aviation sector in Nigeria.

We have over the course of time actively represented some of the major telecom and media firms in Nigeria including some of the major networks operating in Nigeria. Counsels are conversant with the process leading to the grant of various telecom licences and permits. The firm also renders advice on an on- going basis to a number of firms engaged within the sector, while acting as SAQ solicitors to a major GSM operator company.

The firm has an active Intellectual property department boasting of alliances with several other intellectual property law firms worldwide. The firm is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) while members of the firm sit on several INTA committees.

The intellectual property department of the firm is able to offer services in the areas of trademark registration, Patent design and copyright, both by way of registration and defence of such rights.

The firm has done extensive work in the area of Realestate law and has advised a number of major blue-chip companies doing theiracquisitions and/ or disposal of real estate.

The firm’s real estate and property law section hasregularly acted in real estate transactions of various types including securingreal estate rights for clients, including advising as to the best method andmechanism for the acquisition and retention of interest in Real estate from theapplication stage to processing of the requisite title document where required.

The firm boasts of experts in Labour law. We are acquainted with the various Labour related legislations and regulations in Nigeria. Indeed, the firm continues to act for the World Bank “Doing Business” series in the area of Labour law in Nigeria. We are able to advice with regard to Employer/ employee Labour relations in order to bring the operations of such clients within the ambit of the law.

We are committed to providing pro-bono services in aid of charitable and humanitarian causes. Firm members are required to do compulsory work on such activities every year.

The Managing Partner of the firm belongs to one or more of the following bodies; Nigerian Bar Association, the Business Rescue & Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria and various forums within the NBA amongst others. She is also a season capital market specialist.

Apart from the above the firm has actively participated and promoted and has continuously over the period contributed to World Bank’s Doing Business publications.
